UKRAINIAN FLANKER-B FROM IBG MODELS

Polish firm IBG Models has joined up with Foxbot to re-box the Trumpeter Su-27 Flanker-B in Ukrainian markings as Stu Fone discovers.

Following on the heels of IBG Models’ recent Ukrainian single-and two-seat MiG-29 Fulcrum kits comes the firm’s splendid Su-27 Flanker-B boxing (72906) on the same theme. As with the previous offerings, it utilises a Trumpeter kit for the styrene (based on that manufacturer’s 2013 release), being accompanied by sumptuous markings sheets designed by Ukrainian firm Foxbot and printed by Techmod.

Above: The airframe is split horizontally, which allows the fuselage and wing halves to be moulded as a single piece, ensuring alignment and negating the risk of a wing-root join to tackle.

Parts are supplied on five styrene runners, of which three duplicates provide examples of air-to-air missiles, plus separate upper and lower fuselage/wing halves. Surface detail is of the recessed type, with fine engraved panel lines and a representation of the airframe fasteners.
