Ukrainian firm ICM has expanded its acrylic paint range with this fresh set for World War Two RAF aircraft.
As it releases particular kits, ICM is steadily also offering its own paints in themed sets. It’s 17th and latest is WWII Royal Air Force (item 3018) which, echoing the other packs, provides six 12ml bottles… and is obviously released with the company’s new 1/48 Bristol Beaufort in mind. Of course, they can be employed on any suitable RAF aircraft needing the following colours:
• 1054 Chocolate (emulating Dark Earth)
• 1069 Extra Dark Green (for Dark Green)
• 1032 Blue Grey (ICM’s version of Sky)
• 1037 Dark Grey (equivalent to Extra Dark Sea Grey)
• 1027 Gun Metal (for machine-guns)

ICM also supplies a bottle of its Satin Varnish in the set. While the firm shuns official names for certain camouflage shades, its intention is that you can ‘tweak’ the colours if you’re not entirely happy with the hue neat from the container. Note that a full paint cross reference chart is on the ICM website, showing conversions for seven major brands, plus RLM/RAL and Federal Standard codes. The colours can be diluted with water or ICM’s own thinner, and are suitable for hand- or airbrushing. The set costs £6.60 from UK importer Hannants.
