The Ukrainian firm has released two 1/35 boxings of the uncommon Sd.Kfz.247 Ausf.B, but as CHRIS CLIFFORD explains, it’s now provided a third package that gives the vehicle ‘teeth’.
ICM was the first company to release a 1/35 styrene kit of the relatively rare Sd.Kfz.247 Ausf.B; there were supposedly fewer than 100 built by Daimler-Benz in 1941-42. The company’s debut boxing in 2020 emulated the command version, then it was issued with figures (and has since been reboxed by Revell). Now, ICM has released kit 35112, which portrays the machine fitted with a defensive MG 34 machine-gun.
While the vehicle is not large, ICM hasn’t scrimped on detail; more than 50 parts form the chassis, and nine for the busy-looking Horch petrol engine. The body builds from a finely detailed floor with treadplate, full-length side panels, a well-shaped upper hull, and a front plate. A pleasing touch is that of non-uniformly rendered suspension springs, although these come in halves so you’ll have to deal with the join seams.
