Garry Tobiss clears a very large space to build the massive Italeri 1/35 S-38 Schnellboot, adding aftermarket goodies for extra detail.
German naval military strategy during the inter-war period called for the development of heavily armed fast patrol boats capable of both anti-shipping and anti-submarine missions. The Schnellboot (fast boat) was the result of this initiative with the S-1 – developed from a civilian high-speed motor launch design – entering service in 1930. The concept continued to be developed, resulting in the very fast, heavily armed S-38 series being deployed in 1939.
