PHANTOM WHEEL BAYS FROM KAZAN

Tamiya’s new-tool F-4B Phantom II is splendid, but the just-released aftermarket wheel bays from Kazan Model Dynamics will lift it to another level.

Many firms are exploring the benefits and capabilities of 3D printing. The process has certainly been exploited to the full by Czech Republic-based Kazan Model Dynamics, which has released an aftermarket undercarriage bay set for Tamiya’s 1/48 F-4B.

Styrene moulding has its limits of course, so Kazan has employed 3D printing to ensure these bays are faithful replicas, crammed with detail. Simply remove the printing pillars and the parts are ready for use, although minor adaptation of the kit styrene is necessary.

The nosewheel bay ceiling is particularly busy with hydraulic lines and cabling, but the mainwheel bay wall parts are still impressively equipped. There might be just seven components in set KAZ48010TAM, but they will make a world of difference if you wish to make your Tamiya Phantom a real showstopper.

This set costs $24.99 direct from Kazan.
