Helion & Co’s new book offers a wealth of inspiration and detail for modellers considering builds of Korean War B-29 bombers.
From the perspective of enduring enemy fighters while conducting their missions during the Korean War, Helion & Co’s new Last War of the Superfortresses is a fascinating look at the B-29… beyond Hiroshima, Nagasaki and other World War Two action. Many forget the B-29 was employed extensively in Korea and had to run the gauntlet of MiG-15 attacks, often flown by Soviet pilots. The whole scenario offers those who fancy tackling a B-29 build much to consider in terms of background. But the other benefit of this 94-page softback is that it’s replete with useful period photos, plus splendid colour artwork of various Chinese and North Korean MiG-15s, and USAF B-29 airframes. Much of the data for the book has been gleaned over many years, by examining both Western and Soviet archive documents, among other sources.
