LIVING close to the Severn Valley Railway, Mike really wanted to capture the timeless rural sleepy station atmosphere of the 1930s, a time when there was great pride in the station with its well-maintained buildings, flower beds tended to by its group of station staff with the station master overseeing the whole operation.
Mike had been looking at doing something with his ‘O’ gauge collection. One day over a packet of biscuits and a cuppa, Mike and I started chatting and he commissioned me to build an endto-end layout which I was keen to build as it would be my first time working in this scale. Before long, we had points and lengths of track, locomotives, wagons and a tape measure all over the bench, and with that, Little Burford started to come to life.
