Limited Edition status has been afforded to Eduard’s reboxing of Hasegawa’s marvellous 1/72 B-25J. CHRIS CLIFFORD reviews the contents.
Hasegawa has re-released its 1/72 Mitchell many times, and in various guises, but its re-appearance in this Eduard Limited Edition package, named Angel of Mercy (2140) involves more than the original styrene. Besides the seven runners (including one clear), there are two photo-etched (PE) brass frets – one plain and another pre-coloured – splendidly detailed resin wheels, tape masks and a busy decal sheet with a host of attractive nose art.
Beginning with the plastic, this is to Hasegawa’s usual crisp standard, with engraved panel lines and rivets, plus raised detail where appropriate. This package offers parts for the B-25J, but with different strafer nose fits and the option of .50 cal guns in blister fairings on the forward fuselage sides. The detail is bountiful, as there is plenty of structural moulding on the inner fuselages, a decent cockpit in its bare styrene form, refined bulkheads, a bomb bay with stores, an impressive top turret unit and tail guns.
The addition of the many PE components will lift this build to a whole new level, courtesy of a very good instrument panel, throttles,…
