The Making Tracks layouts by Pete Waterman and the Railnuts Group have taken the model railway world by storm with their inspiring ‘OO’ gauge layouts for summer long events at Chester Cathedral.

Each year the group has exhibited the Making Tracks layouts one final time at the Great Electric Train Show and this year they are putting on a special display by combining all three layouts to create one single 152ft x 14ft super layout.

The triple bill will see Making Tracks 1 with Watford Tunnel, North Church Tunnel and Tring Cutting lead to the brand new Making Tracks 3 layout modelling Milton Keynes Central station. After the station the line will continue onto the Making Tracks 2 layout recreating the approaches to Rugby at Hillmorton Junction. Trains will be able to run non-stop through the full 152ft length and then travel through a full length storage yard at the rear of the layout.

Rolling stock will model the current scene on the West Coast Main Line with Pendolinos running side by side with Class 66 hauled freights as well as the more unusual movements employing the likes of Class 37s, double-headed Class 90s on container trains and much more.

The layout is controlled by DCC using the Roco Z21 system. Read our full coverage of regular updates on the Making Tracks 3 layout here.
