It’s official: Making Tracks III is going ahead

Pete Waterman and the Railnuts group will be returning to Chester Cathedral in summer 2023 with a brand new ‘OO’ gauge model railway for Making Tracks III.

A brand-new 64ft long ‘OO’ gauge model railway is being built the third Making Tracks event in Chester Cathedral for summer 2023 and it will be attending the 2023 Great Electric Train Show in Milton Keynes.

The brand-new layout builds on the successes of the 2021 and 2022 events and will model Milton Keynes Central station. The layout will be built around the same storage yard as the first two, but will feature an entirely new scenic section to capture the West Coast Main Line station in the present day.

A Class 90 leads a Freightliner train along the Making Tracks II layout. A brand-new model of Milton Keynes station is coming in 2023.

Pete Waterman commented: “The response to Making Tracks II this summer has been phenomenal and this new layout presents new challenges for the team to model Milton Keynes Central station in ‘OO’ gauge. We have already been to the station to measure up during the 2022 Great Electric Train Show weekend.”

Pete Waterman and the Railnuts Group will be creating a third Making Tracks layout for 2023.

Making Tracks III will be on display in Chester Cathedral in summer 2023 sponsored by Chester Model Centre and Hanson Plywood – exact dates are to be confirmed – with the layout also confirmed as attending the 2023 Great Electric Train Show.

Key Publishing Publisher for Modelling Mike Wild said: “We are thrilled to be working with Pete and the Railnuts team again in 2023 and that we can display a model of Milton Keynes Central station in Milton Keynes at the Great Electric Train Show.”

Dates for the 2023 Great Electric Train Show are October 14/15 2023.
