NEW JUNKERS FLOATPLANE CONVERSION FROM MASTER-X

A limited-edition conversion from Master-X transforms Revell’s 1/72 Junkers G.24 floatplane into the ‘/he’ airframe Dionysos, as CHRIS CLIFFORD reports.

NEW JUNKERS FLOATPLANE CONVERSION FROM MASTER-X

Boutique Czech firm Master-X has already offered two conversions for Revell’s 1/72 Junkers G.24 and these sold out quickly. Yet there is a third option for this kit (originally moulded by VEB Plasticart), being Master-X’s limited-edition set MX 7226.03. This allows you to convert the VEB/Revell G.24 floatplane tooling into the 1920s Luft Hansa G.24/he airframe named Dionysos.

Thirteen cast-resin components are present, including replacement engine nacelles/oil coolers, a new vertical stabiliser and rudder, exhausts and ram-air turbines. The parts are reasonably well mastered, with just minimal casting seams here and there to remove. Also provided are two decal sheets with black and white markings, chiefly ‘D 949’ codes, LUFTHANSA legends, the DIONYSOS names and Junkers type designation lettering. Master-X also supplies a colour scheme sheet for this black and aluminium machine.

The VEB/Revell G.24, while not in current production, can still be found at auction sites… and you may already have one or two lying in your stash. If you want to do something different with it, this conversion offers an interesting and fun avenue. It costs €40 direct from Master-X.
