Modelling a car dealership

The return of MKD plastic kits to the British market through Hornby Hobbies was the perfect opportunity to make a realistic car dealership for a ‘OO’ layout. DAN EVASON explains the process step by step.

This small diorama could easily be incorporated into a larger model railway scheme.

Take a trip around your local area and you will soon drive by a smartly presented car dealership, often with pristine walls, wraparound cladding, large windows, bright lights and gleaming new cars, offering the latest models to tempt you in - if you're in the market for a new car, of course! Using this very European kit from MKD as a starting point, I set out to turn this car garage into a more UK based, modern car dealership. I also went one step further and set the building into its very own little diorama. Using a selection of fine detail parts from 3D printing manufacturers including Modelu3D for figures and 3D Printing Corner for additional items including the car display ramp, interior pieces and concrete bollards.
