Accurascale has revealed details of a new addition to its range of Accurascale Exclusives, a ‘OO’ gauge departmental ballast cleaner support van utilising the manufacturer’s forthcoming all-new D1478 Southern Railway Banana Van tooling.
Finished as DS50594, the model replicates a prototype vehicle used for ballast cleaning support duties in the 1970s. British Rail employed mechanised equipment formed into self-contained ballast cleaning trains which would typically include a self-propelled ballast cleaner unit, tool van, staff coach and brake van at each end of the formation.
Currently at the decorated sample stage – the first example to appear from the new tooling suite in decorated form – the new support van will be finished in faded BR bauxite with distressed roof effects and torn labels.
Priced at £29.95 each, they are available to order exclusively from the Accurascale website. Delivery is expected later this year.
