FUEand oitrains have always been a popular choice for modellers and now ‘N’ gauge has a brandnew version of the TEA 100ton tanker. The Graham Farish range has long relied on an out dated Poole era modeof the TEA tanker (the TEA code being used for bogie tank wagons with a gross laden weight of 100tons), but Bachmann sought to set the record straight with a new modeto match the high fidelity version it produces for ‘OO’ gauge.
The new TEA was announced in the 2017 Graham Farish catalogue and it’s being made available in Gulf dark blue with a weathered finish together with pristine examples in Esso grey and BP green. The design for these 100ton tankers was first seen in the late 1960s with batches built by Metro-Cammeland Chas Roberts. Most wagons dating back to this era ran on Gloucester bogies and alemployed a frameless design to the tanker.
There were numerous design codes for the TEAs with our sample of the Gulf liveried wagon being made to design code TE022A and modelling a Metro-Cammelbuilt example. The wagon comes with turned metawheels together with Rapido couplings in NEM pockets on self-centring arms.
