Norwood Park

The expanding range of Southern Region ‘OO’ gauge locomotives and multiple units prompted the Grimsby Town Railway Modellers to build this busy junction layout. PETER BRACKENBURY tells the story of Norwood Park.

NORWOOD PARK is the latest ‘OO’ gauge layout constructed and owned by Peter Brackenbury, Albert Haigh and David Sharp. Not too dissimilar to those layouts conceived on the back of beer mats, Norwood Park came about following a (very) casual discussion one afternoon during one of our weekly train watching sessions at Brocklesby station. We had all hinted in the past that given our interest in all things BR Southern Region (SR) that we would like to build a Southern Region layout at some point but other layouts such as Yarborough (HM16) and Appleton Junction (HM126) were built in the meantime.
