‘OO’ Hunslet 16in 0-6-0ST surfaces
Rapido Trains UK’s all-new ‘OO’ gauge Hunslet 16in 0-6-0ST is edging closer with a hand-decorated sample appearing in early December.
Designed for industrial use by the Hunslet Locomotive Company of Leeds, this was the largest of the type constructed by the company and were mainly employed at collieries, mines and quarries.
Rapido Trains UK is producing seven fully-finished ‘OO’ models in DCC ready and DCC sound-fitted formats as Alex in Oxfordshire Ironstone lined red (Cat No. 903001/903501), Arthur in Markham Main Colliery lined green (903002/903502), Beatrice in South Yorkshire National Coal Board (NCB) lined red (903003/903503), Holly Bank No.3 in Staffordshire area NCB lined blue (903004/903504), Jacks Green in Nassington lined green (903005/903503), Primrose No.2 in NCB lined black (903006.903506) and Thorne No.1 in plain green (903007/903507).
Each model will feature a die-cast metal chassis, high quality motor, Next18 Digital Command Control (DCC) decoder socket and sprung metal buffers.
The hand-decorated sample is currently under assessment by the company’s development team and a number of tweaks will be required before it progresses further.
Priced at £129.95 DCC ready and £229.95 DCC sound-fitted, pre-orders are being taken now. A release date has yet to be confirmed.
