Orders are now open for Rapido Trains’ The Titfield Thunderbolt models as seen in the film and standalone versions of Lion and the Loriot Y wagon in their historical liveries.

Rapido has announced two train packs based on the film. The deluxe pack will contain a Digital Command Control sound-fitted Thunderbolt with period-specific details, Loriot Y plus Dan’s House, ‘Toad’ brake van W68740, scale figures and a commemorative booklet.

The standard Thunderbolt pack will contain a DCC ready Thunderbolt with period specific details, Loriot Y, Dan’s House and the ‘Toad’. The deluxe pack will cost £399.95 with the standard pack priced at £299.95. Both are due in the first half of 2023 to coincide with the film’s 70th anniversary.

Rapido has also confirmed it will be producing standalone items of the models, starting with two versions of Lion. The locomotive will be available in its 1930s condition featuring tender spring boxes, no pressure gauge and will be available in London & North Western Railway green and Indian red liveries. The second variant will be in 1980s condition featuring open tender springs, firebox mounted pressure gauges, fireman’s toolbox and separately fitted tender safety chains, which will be available in either Ruston green or black liveries. Both locomotives are priced the same with DCC Ready versions £179.95 and DCC Sound fitted £279.95.

The final standalone model confirmed by Rapido is the ‘Loriot Y’ which will have injection moulded and die-cast construction with separately fitted detail, metal bearings and NEM coupling pockets. Available as 41989 in GWR livery, 41990 in as preserved GWR colours and DW41990 in BR Departmental livery. All versions will cost £39.95 and be available at around the same time as the train packs.
