Above: The methods shown in this guide are applicable to all the major materials used in model making – from etched brass to resin. I built this mega-detailed ‘J69/1’ 0-6-0T from an elderly South Eastern Finecast white metal kit, with an etched brass chassis in the scratch builder’s scale, ‘P4’. I thought it made an interesting contrast with the 3D-printed model seen in HM165, running on a Dapol ‘Terrier’ chassis.
