Martin Shenton is displaying his busy G scale indoor layout at the 2022 Great Electric Train Show offering a taste of larger scale modelling.

After completing a railway around our garden, thoughts turned to building an exhibition layout and Penphyl Halt was born and built in G scale. The layout is based on Grainge and Hodder baseboards, with Peco track and LGB analogue controllers.
The layout was designed where possible to use buildings, details and stock from our garden railway, which, together with plastic grass, helps to give the feel of a garden railway indoors. There are buttons at the front for viewers to operate some of the features and lots of different characters and figures to spot and identify.
A variety of stock can be seen from LGB and Bachmann although I am gradually building up a fleet of mostly kit built British narrow gauge models. Please ask if you have any questions about G scale or garden railways – we will be only too happy to talk about our favourite subject.
