Pete Waterman and the Railnuts groups are back and building a brand new 64ft long stretch of the West Coast Main Line to exhibit at Chester Cathedral this summer. MIKE WILD and RICHARD WATSON go behind the scenes at Pete's workshop to discover the first steps of the project.
"We got the bug," Pete Waterman commented as he introduced us to the brand-new 'OO' gauge model which is set to take centre stage at Chester Cathedral this summer. Making Tracks II is a follow up to the tremendous success of the 2021 event which saw Pete and his Railnuts group put together a 64ft x 12ft 'OO' model of part of the West Coast Main Line.
For the 2022 event the team have gone back to the drawing board to develop a brand-new scenic section and upgrade the storage yard with new electronic modules. The layout's dimensions will match the first Making Tracks layout at 64ft x 12ft, but this time the scenic area will be longer as one end wraps around the curves.
