It's fair to say The Severn Valley Railway has created a lot of goodwill (and admittedly some controversy amongst die-hard enthusiasts) with its repaint of 34027 Taw Valley into a special purple livery to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this June. The limited edition Hornby/SVR model has sold out twice (see Update) and examples of this unique locomotive are likely to be sought-after for a good while.Happily if you want to replicate the look, it’s not as hard as you might think to do so on a standard rebuilt ‘West Country’ 4-6-2.
