What do Hobbits, Gnomes and puppies all have in common? Jay Blakemore finds out when he builds a 1/32 Sopwith Pup from New Zealand-based firm Wingnut Wings.

Designed originally as a personal runabout aircraft for Sopwith’s chief test pilot, Harry Hawker, the ‘Pup’ evolved into a single-seat biplane of mainly wood and fabric construction and staggered equal-span wings.
