Gauge: 'OO' | Period: 1960s | Region: Eastern | Operating team: Hornby Magazine
The latest layout to be (almost) completed by the Hornby Magazine team is this Great Central Railway inspired 16ft x 8ft layout. It has been designed with a typical home single garage in mind as its location, which has kept the size restricted which focusing on ‘OO’ gauge modelling.
It models a typical GCR style island platform station on one side using Bachmann Scenecraft buildings while the second side models Swithland Sidings. The yet to be completed section will, ultimately, be a reflection of Swithland reservoir for which you can see the initial structure this weekend.
The layout is fully DCC controlled and uses Peco’s bullhead track components for the majority of the formation. The operating team will be showcasing the latest releases this weekend at the Great Electric Train Show – including Bachmann’s new Class 37/4, KR Models Fell diesel, Accurascale’s Deltic and others - and they will be more than happy for you to take control of the trains on this four-sided layout.
Quorn Magna featured in the 2021 and 2022 Hornby Magazine Yearbooks and our full multi-part video series is available to watch on KeyModelWorld revealing the build process on camera from start to finish.
