Hornby reveals
UPDATE
THE FINAL DECORATED samples of Hornby’s new ‘OO’ gauge model of Northern Rail operated Class 156 156480 have been received. The unit carries a unique livery to celebrate the RAF100 celebrations in 2018.

The model is due to be released in August (Cat No. R3772) and carries the special celebratory livery which was revealed at its naming on June 23 2018 at Newcastle Central station. It was named Spirit of the Royal Air Force and will carry the livery wrap until 2020.

Unit 156480 was built in February 1989 and is one of 114 two-car Class 156 units constructed by Metro-Cammell of Birmingham. It is formed of Driving Motor Standard 57480 and Driving Motor Standard Lavatory 52480 and is currently based at Heaton Traction and
Rolling Stock Maintenance Depot in Newcastle.
The model of 156480 is priced at £124.99 and uses the former Lima tooling with an updated motor package. It is DCC ready with an 8-pin decoder socket, but doesn’t have directional lighting.
