Simon George, owner of Britain’s Biggest Model Railway (BBMR) – the 200ft x 50ft Heaton Lodge Junction ‘O’ gauge exhibition layout – has confirmed that the organisation is to become a specialist Heljan retailer offering a bespoke finishing service for customers.
Unused space at the layout’s Wakefield base is currently being repurposed as a fully functioning distribution centre for the venture and will operate under BBMR’s slogan ’Realism Redefined’.
Outlining his plans, Simon explained: ”Initially we’ll be retailing all the Heljan ‘O’ gauge range, but with a key difference. Every locomotive sold by Realism Redefined will receive the customer’s choice of numbers (and nameplates if applicable), an option of four levels of weathering, plus a numbered certificate all in the box, and all included in the discounted price.”
Heljan UK’s Ben Jones added: “Simon’s modelling skills have made national and international news in the last year. We’re delighted to build on our relationship with him and Britain’s Biggest Model Railway as a specialist retailer of our high quality ‘O’ gauge products.”
