Japanese firm Bandai’s 1/72 TIE Interceptor kit has been made available in Europe courtesy of Revell, as Stu Fone discovers.
Bandai and Fine Molds were at the forefront of providing Star Wars kits that – for want of a batter phrase – conformed to ‘standard’ scales, with the former’s 1/72 offerings proving hugely popular. Due to licencing constraints, they weren’t available outside Asia – at least until an agreement with Revell allowing them to be distributed/sold in Europe.

The latest such offering is the 1/72 TIE Interceptor (Revell item #01212), which debuted in Return of the Jedi. Comprising eight styrene runners (with luminous green laser bolts and a clear runner for the glazing) plus a choice of decals or self-adhesive stickers, it’s bursting with detail; you can even identify the kit-bashed parts from the original studio models.
