Revolution receives Drax hopper samples
Development of Revolution Trains' new 'N' gauge IIA-D 'Tafoos' biomass bogie hoppers has progressed significantly in recent weeks with the arrival of the first Engineering Prototype (EP) samples for assessment.
Built for use in transporting biomass to Drax Power Station in North Yorkshire, these were the largest wagons to operate on the rail network when introduced in 2013. Their distinctive design and stand-out bodyside graphics have made them instantly recognisable.
Revolution Trains is offering these all-new 'N' gauge wagons in twin-packs covering each of the four liveries carried to date, including the initial stylised silver vinyls with blue and green swooshes, revised Northern Powerhouse scheme with images of Drax engineers and two versions of the current all-blue livery reflecting Drax's renewable power credentials. In total, there will be 16 different wagons, each featuring a unique running number and wealth of separately applied details including the distinctive brake equipment located in the hopper 'cut-outs'. Following a few amendments, the project is expected to progress to the decorated sample stage shortly.
Available exclusively from Rails of Sheffield, each twin-pack of wagons is priced at £79.95. Delivery is expected later this Summer.
