Revolutionary Class 93 develops

Development of Revolution Trains’ (RT) forthcoming ‘OO’ gauge model of the Stadler tri-mode Class 93 Bo-Bo is progressing well, with the manufacturer revealing the latest CAD drawings for the project.

These powerful freight locomotives will feature 25kv overhead electric capability, as well as heavy duty batteries and a diesel engine, with a top speed of 110mph.

While the prototype is still in development for Rail Operations Group (ROG), RT's design team have been forging ahead with the project utilising drawings and data supplied by Stadler Rail to create these initial CAD files. Tooling will not begin until type testing of the full-size locomotives gets underway, just in case any revisions are required to the design.

RT's initial CAD drawings reflect the ‘OO’ gauge model, although ‘N’ gauge versions are also planned in due course.

Revolution Trains’ newly-tooled ‘OO’ gauge models will feature a die-cast metal chassis, PluX22 Digital Command Control (DCC) decoder interface, servo-operated pantograph, a full suite of working lights, detailed cab interiors, photo-etched grilles, detailed underframe, representation of the Dellner couplings and factory-fitted bufferbeam detailing at one end.

Models will be available DCC ready and DCC sound-fitted, with a selection of identities in ROG’s planned green and black launch colour scheme.

Prices will be confirmed once the final CAD work is complete, which is expected to be early 2023. A release date is also yet to be confirmed.
