If there was a retirement age for kits, Airfix’s Tribal-class destroyer would qualify, yet this basic offering has a new lease of life in Mister Craft’s boxing, with a new three-piece stand. There are two styrene runners, plus a separate deck and forward/aft superstructures, and the vessel can be built in full-hull configuration… but with judicious cutting could also be presented in waterline form. The age is apparent from the amount of flash present and minimal surface detail, and much neatening will be required. Note just an early Tribal can be built directly from this kit; for those desiring a latewar ship, the funnels, armament, mainmast and superstructure will need modification. There are four schemes, with Western Approaches camouflage indicated for HMS Eskimo…references must be checked for the remaining British, Australian and Canadian vessels:
