Fans of flying boats and floatplanes seem to be doing rather well for product of late, via different manufacturers. But with Silver Wings’ new all-resin 1/48 Macchi M.41bis, there is proper cause for celebration. It replicates Macchi’s aircraft which, in 1930, entered squadron service to replace the ageing Macchi M.7 in the maritime fighter role. Coded 48-004, this kit offers a wealth of well-designed and finely cast components, plus locating pins for the fuselage halves, wings, horizontal stabilisers and other assemblies… a feature that many limited-run styrene kits fail to provide.
