USEFUL NEW PAINT SHADES FROM SMS

Australian paint producer Scale Modellers Supply (SMS) has introduced four fresh camouflage tones to its Premium PL range. The airbrush-ready acrylic lacquers, offered in 30ml bottles, are RAF Dark Green BS.641, RAF Dark Earth BS.450 and RAF Night BS.381C 642 (all appropriate for RAF Bomber Command aircraft, such as the Lancaster, Halifax and the like).

The Dark Green and Dark Earth can also be employed with existing colours in the SMS range – Sky and Duck Egg Green – to decorate RAF day fighters from early in World War Two.

The fourth tone is RAAF Marking Grey… presumably catering for insignia on modern Royal Australian Air Force aircraft. While billed as airbrush-ready, they can be diluted if desired with the firm’s own Premium Thinner, while thorough cleaning can be achieved with Mr Hobby’s Mr Tool Cleaner R 400. All these products are available in the UK via the official importer Albion Hobbies.
