MODELLING TIPS
What are the signatures of the Southern Region, and how can you model them? MIKE WILD offers his top 20 tips for recreating the smallest BR region in miniature.
BULLEID PACIFICS
The radical design of Bulleid’s air-smoothed 4-62s, and their later rebuilt form, are a key part of almost every size of Southern Region layout. They were seen system wide and the ‘West Country’/‘Battle of Britain’ classes were even seen on short trains in North Cornwall as well as long expresses and Pullman workings. There was nothing like a Bulleid ‘Pacific’ and now all four versions are available ready-to-run in ‘OO’ gauge – air-smoothed and rebuilt ‘Merchant Navys’ plus the air-smoothed and rebuilt ‘West Country’/‘Battle of Britain’ classes.
