ALL-NEW 'EMIL'

Special Hobby's announcement of a newly tooled 1/72 Bf 109E has delighted many aficionados and the first release features the E-4.

Special Hobby 1/72 Bf 109E-4

Comprising three styrene runners, the kit (SH72439) parts feature delicately engraved panel lines and rivet representation on the exterior, while there’s a splendid Daimler-Benz DB 601A engine and a wealth of fittings for a highly detailed cockpit area. A quartet of markings schemes includes aircraft operated by famed Luftwaffe pilot Helmut Wick, plus aces Gerhard Schöpfel and Wolfgang Lippert, along with a machine possibly flown by Leopold Steinbatz. Tailfin insignia decals are supplied as two-piece items to conform with legal constraints – unusually these all have RLM 65-coloured backing.

This initial version is available already, retailing for €16.20 and subsequent releases will cover the preceding E-3 variant (SH72443), followed by the E-1, fighter-bomber E-4B, late E-7 and Swiss export variants. Further details can be found at: www.specialhobby.eu
