The Swedish decal designer has released useful alternative liveries for IBG Models’ Panzer II Ausf.a/b.

Fans of German armour were no doubt delighted with IBG Models’ recent new-tool PzKpfw.II Ausf.a/b kits. However, it’s always handy to have alternatives in terms of camouflage and markings – and that’s where Star Decals’ new product can help. Sheet 35-C 1382, PzKpfw II a/b Early Track Suspension, offers markings for four vehicles. All wear plain Dunkelgrau but one has additional blotches of brown paint. The choices are:

•    Ausf.IIb, A-96, Pz.Aufkl.Abt. of 12. Panzer Division, USSR, summer 1941-42
•    Ausf.IIb, B96, unknown unit (possibly 12. Panzer Division), USSR, 1941
•    Ausf.b, 344, 19. Panzer Division, USSR, 1941
•    Ausf.a, 941, unknown unit

Besides the vehicle’s painted markings, Star’s decal sheet also offers a segmented Swastika on a white circular background, for use on an aerial identification flag draped over the rear decking. The decals have matt carrier film, so must be applied over gloss varnish to avoid silvering. This sheet costs just $7 direct from Star Decals.
