Hornby has completed its new range of Stanier ‘Princess Coronation’ 4-6-2s with the arrival of the stunning streamlined version. MIKE WILD takes a closer look at this icon of the 1930s races to the north.

FIRST REVIEW

The imposing stance of the streamlined ‘Duchesses’ has been captured brilliantly by Hornby in ‘OO’.

STANIER’S ‘PRINCESS CORONATION’ class ‘Pacifics’ are renowned for their impressive power. The first were introduced in 1937 and in total 38 were built at the London Midland & Scottish Railway’s (LMS) Crewe Works over the following 11 years.
