SUPER-NEAT MASKING WITH FLAKE KING

Whichever way you look at it, masking our models is a time-consuming process... but vital for neat results come painting/airbrushing time. Whether it’s protecting cockpit clear parts, producing trim lines or invasion stripes, masking surface panels, and the like, it helps if the medium you are using is of high quality.
The Airbrush Company now stocks the Flake King brand of masking tape, available in many colours, widths and lengths, and it’s definitely worth considering for modelling purposes. The tape comes in various guises and we received the following samples:

Prime Fine Line 2mm x 55m Orange (FK-TPOR2) , and 3mm x 55m Green (FK-TPGR3), and Ulti Line Crepe 1mm x 50m (FK-ULFL01) and 4mm x 50m (FK-ULFL04.

The Crepe is an ideal general purpose masking tape, with strong adhesion, but can be removed easily to leave sharp, well-defined lines. It is available in widths of 1mm to 6mm. Meanwhile, the Prime Fine Line Green and Orange tape employs thermally stabilised PVC backing with a rubber-based pressure-sensitive adhesive. This is thinner and more translucent than other Fine Line tapes, which makes it ideal for seeing through to painted surfaces. Green and Orange are available in 1, 2, 3 and 6mm widths.

All versions of the tape mentioned here has sharp edges to ensure the ultimate in neatness, and the quality is obvious as soon as you pick it up and start peeling off lengths. They are priced from £3.49.
