ANIME LINER DIORAMA

A delightful caricature package, which offers stylised models of the famous Titanic, a dockside and a futuristic flying machine is now available from Suyata. CHRIS CLIFFORD finds out more.

Akin to Hasegawa’s venerable ‘Egg Fighter’ kits, whereby well-known aircraft are moulded as shrunken, distorted versions of the real subjects, Chinese firm Suyata has adopted a similar approach to replicate the world’s most famous passenger liner… Titanic.

While the company has produced this iconic vessel on its own in an iceberg scene with seals, it has also boxed it as part of a larger package, in which you receive dockside buildings and a Steampunk-style airship. The box art for the latter (kit SL002) is pure Japanese anime, and hugely inspiring for anyone preparing to work with the parts provided. Assembly can be completed without cement, but using it will ensure a stronger finished item.

Titanic itself is a tubbier – yet stunningly detailed – version of the real ship, and comes with waterline and full-hull parts, the styrene colours varying to negate painting.
