FLAMBOYANT RAFALE LIVERY FROM SYHART

Modellers who favour Dassault aircraft now have a smart rendering of the French Air and Space Force 2021 Rafale C Solo Display scheme.

FLAMBOYANT RAFALE LIVERY FROM SYHART

Syhart has forged an enviable reputation for producing dazzling and complex special livery decals for various aircraft. It’s latest effort is impressive indeed, as proprietor Sylvain Hautier has designed an involved three-sheet package for anyone wishing to build last year’s Rafale Solo Display jet.

It’s highly attractive… the different swathes of blue, grey and white representing the fluidity of air, and the different hues of sky visible as you pass through earth’s atmosphere into space. The new hawk motif of the French Air and Space Force is also worked into the design.

Syhart provides the markings on three separate sheets in set 72-143, and offers a small set of airbrush masks to help complete the ‘uniform’ – including anti-slip walkways. As ever, Hautier’s instructions are lavish affairs, with high-quality profile and plan views, and full decal placement pointers by number (there is a set order for their application). All the necessary stencilling is supplied too, as well as paint codes for the airframe.

Also provided are sections of decal in all colours to fill any gaps if necessary. Syhart has not sized these markings for a particular kit, so you could try the decals on either the Hobby Boss Rafale C, or Italeri’s kit. And if 1/48 is more your scale, Syhart has the equivalent set as 48-143, for employment on the Hobby Boss or Revell kits.

Syhart has produced numerous Rafale schemes in the past year or so, but this is arguably one of the most ambitious. It will require patience throughout the application process, but you will be rewarded with a stunning model, in either scale. The 1/72 sheet costs €16 and the 1/48 €20, direct from Syhart Decal.
