Takom’s new sub-brand Blitz now offers a superb 1/35 package, allowing modellers to build either a Sturmgeschütz III Ausf.G or a Sturmhaubitze 42 assault gun.
MORE THAN 7,000 German Sturmgeschütz III (StuG III) tracked assault gun vehicles were produced in World War Two, and were developed via various sub-types. It relied mostly on a 75mm gun, but some examples, branded Sturmhaubitze 42 (StuH 42), were armed with a 105mm howitzer. Both machines had different structural nuances, and these included two different gun mantlets – the standard angular variety, and the co-called Saukopf (pig’s head) version. The 105mm howitzer was seen with and without a muzzle brake.
