UK importer Bachmann Europe has updated Key Model World regarding Takom's fascinating new military kits expected soon.

Takom can always be relied upon to provide interesting subjects with respectable detail. Four items due at between late April and early may this year will certainly attract the attention of military fans. The first is a large-scale M50A1 Ontos self-propelled anti-tank vehicle in 1/16 scale (PKTAK01019, £109.99). Developed jointly by the US Army/Marine Corps, Takom’s version of this singular machine offers a full interior, open/closed hatches, moveable road wheels, single-piece tracks and photo-etched brass details, plus a figure. Five markings choices are supplied.

Modellers favouring Cold war subjects have a fine option in the new 1/35 Soviet T-55AD ‘Drozd’ tank (PKTAK02166, £49.99)… the latest in an extensive family of T-55s from Takom. This variant replicates the T-55 equipped with a turret-mounted active defence system, which detects and intercepts anti-tank guided missiles. Again, the hatches can be posed open or closed and there are PE details.

Fans of more modern military machinery, but who prefer small-scale projects, will surely welcome the firm’s 1/72 M1070 Gun Truck (PKTAK05019, £35.99). Even in this scale, the improvised escort combat vehicle based on the Oskosh eight-wheel unit is an imposing subject. Takom’s replica provides an up-armoured cab and two rear-mounted guns, PE components and decals for one truck.

Finally, for World War Two devotees, Takom’s Blitz sub-brand has a splendid-looking Pz.Kpfw.III Ausf N (PKTAK08011, £45.99) with link-and-length Winterketten tracks. There’s a choice of two machines in terms of markings and the hatches can be positioned open or closed. All the items highlighted here will be available via Bachmann Europe.
