Tamiya has been quick off the mark with its newly tooled Honda CBR1000RR-R, as it replicates the 2020 version.
This 1/12 scale offering (14138) captures the revised bodywork of the real superbike and, as has come to be expected from this manufacturer, the parts – presented on five styrene runners – exude quality, featuring well-defined detail, notably on the brake discs and engine block components. It wouldn’t be a Tamiya kit without the usual assortment of screws, pipework and a metal spring to aid assembly, and these are joined by beautifully moulded front and rear tyres. Completing the package are self-adhesive masks for the red/ white/blue livery shown on the box top and chromed stickers for the rearview mirrors. The markings choices are either the box top scheme or a brooding Matte Pearl Morion Black option, with toneddown logos. While undoubtedly of interest to motorcycle modellers, it would also be ideal for those wanting to take a foray into this genre, as Tamiya’s less-is-more approach will make for a stunning build.
