The compact design of the North Eastern Railway ‘G5’ 0-4-4T is the subject of TMC’s first exclusive locomotive commission from Bachmann. MIKE WILD takes a detailed look at this exciting new release for ‘OO' gauge which is due to land this summer.
TMC IS A well-known name in model railway circles. Its business has been built around custom weathering as well as supplying ready-to-run models, kits and its own exclusive products. However, until now its previous exclusive models have been rolling stock including the BR Mk 1 horsebox, BR plate and double bolster wagons plus the BR 24.5ton mineral wagons.
This new arrival is altogether different and more complex. It models the North Eastern Railway Worsdell designed ‘O’ 0-4-4T (later ‘G5' under the LNER classification system) which was introduced in 1894. In total 110 were built over the next seven years with the last withdrawn from service in 1958.
