Marklin/Trix are celebrating the centenary of Gresley ‘A3’ 4-6-2 60103 Flying Scotsman with the release of a limited edition ‘HO’ scale model of the world’s most famous steam locomotive for the very first time. This new release also marks the first new British outline model the company has produced in more than 30 years.
The new models will include a series of features including dual working headlamps and tender tail lamp (which can be changed from warm white to red), an adjustable close coupling between engine and tender, highly detailed cab interior with full backhead detail, cab illumination and flickering firebox glow, as well as copper piping, separately fitted fine metal boiler bands and a headboard.
The specification also calls for a high-efficiency motor with flywheel and factory-fitted mfx+ digital decoder with extensive light and sound functions. The model also features a factory-fitted smoke unit with speed-dependent dynamic smoke exhaust.
Two versions will be available in Trix DC two-rail (Cat No. 22886) and Marklin AC three-rail (39968) formats. Both versions will be presented in BR lined green with late crests as 60103 and will feature a double chimney. The model will also reflect the locomotive in its current form, with distinctive German-style smoke deflectors and corridor tender (with interior illumination).
Priced at £526.50 each, these all-new ‘HO’ scale models are available to order now. A release date has yet to be confirmed.
