Trumpeter's heavy hauler tank transporter

INTERMEDIATE BUILD

Cristian Lupu recreates a piece of post-Cold War history with Trumpeter’s imposing 1/35 KZKT-7428 transporter with KZKT-9101 semi-trailer.

During the Cold War, the Soviet Union’s standard tank transporter was based on the long-standing MAZ-537 chassis, but by the 1990s its replacement, the KZKT-7428, was just entering service. As a direct replacement for the former design, it shared a similar layout but could carry up to 70 tons on and off road, at a maximum speed of approximately 40mph.

The tractor is primarily utilised as either a prime mover for a semi-trailer or as a recovery vehicle (also known as a wrecker). In its most common configuration, the KZKT tows the KZKT-9101 semi-trailer, which can carry anything from heavy construction equipment to military vehicles.
