Accurascale has confirmed that it is developing a series of newly-tooled ‘OO’ gauge BR Mk 2c carriages, to accompany the previously announced Mk 2b vehicles.
This is the first time that BR Mk 2c carriages have been developed for ‘OO’ gauge and Accurascale’s new models will be produced in Corridor Brake First (BFK), Brake Standard Open (BSO), Corridor First (FK), Corridor Standard (ex-FK) (SK), Open First (FO), Open Second (ex-First Open) (SO), Tourist Open Second (TSO), Corridor Composite (ScotRail ex-FK) (CK) and Tourist Open Second with miniature buffet (TSO(T)).
Accurascale's all-new models will appear in standard BR blue and grey as BFK M17137 (Cat No. ACC2691), BSO M9445 (ACC2692), FK M13543 (ACC2688), FO M3162 (ACC2686), SK M19536 (ACC2689), SO M6415 (ACC2687), TSO M5565 (ACC2683), TSO M5576 (ACC2684), TSO M5600 (ACC2685) and TSO (T) E6522 (ACC2690).
In addition, Accurascale has also announced a series of additional variants and later colour schemes including Mk 2c Corridor Composite SC7551 in BR blue and grey with ScotRail markings (ACC2694), BSO 9446 in BR blue and grey with ScotRail markings (ACC2693), TSO 5614 in TransPennine livery (ACC2697), TSO 5554 in Regional Railways colours (ACC2700), BSO 9458 in Regional Railways livery (ACC2702), TSO(T) 6500 in Network SouthEast livery (ACC2695), BFK 17132 in Network SouthEast colours (ACC2696), BFK M17130 in BR InterCity livery (ACC2698), TSO(T) 6528 in West Coast Railways maroon (ACC2703) and BSO 9440 in West Coast Railways maroon (ACC2704).
These all-new BR Mk 2c coaches will reflect the real things that share many common features with the BR Mk 2b carriages with finely executed exterior rivet detail on the roof and coach ends, separately-applied handrails, brake and steam heat pipes, ETH cabling and sockets, footsteps, dummy drophead knuckle coupler and roof vents.
The vehicles will also feature accurate interiors with distinctive winged headrests, separate metal interior handrails (where appropriate), prototypical 'air-con' style lavatory windows and fully-detailed guard's compartment in the BFK and BSOs. Full interior illumination will also be included, activated by the manufacturer’s magic-wand controller and each coach will also be fitted with a Stay-Alive capacitor.
Priced at £59.95 each, delivery is expected in late 2023.
