IN 2020 Hornby released its all-new Stanier 'Princess Royal' 4-6-2 (HM154) as part of our Hornby Centenary Special issue in HM160 we injected new components to bring this stunning 'Pacific' to life with ZIMO digital sound, working lamps, a 'stay alive' pack and a smoke generator. The full step by step guide is in HM160 - on sale from September 3 2020 - and Hornby Magazine subscribers can also read the feature here on KeyModelWorld in the Digital Control section.

The project uses a ZIMO MX645R sound decoder with a Digitrains sound file as its basis which we have added DCC Concepts working lamps, a Seuthe smoke generator and a Digitrains 6-20 second 'stay alive' capacitor pack. The result is a locomotive which sounds superb, matching the quality of its exterior detail through the use of a high performance speaker.
