The first ten model railways for Key Publishing’s brand-new Model World LIVE event at the NEC on April 27/28 2024 have been revealed.
THE FIRST ten model railways for Key Publishing’s brand-new Model World LIVE event at the NEC on April 27/28 2024 have been revealed with a challenge to build the biggest ever portable model railway leading the charge.
Above: Model World LIVE is the stage for Pete Waterman and the Railnuts to assemble an even bigger Making Tracks layout in April 2024. This time the scene will be 208ft long! At the 2023 Great Electric Train Show all three currently layouts were assembled to create a single 152ft long layout.
Following on from the creation of the biggest portable ‘OO’ gauge layout at the 2023 Great Electric Train Show, Pete Waterman and the Railnuts have taken on a new challenge to make Making Tracks even bigger. The new scene will be a staggering 208ft x 14ft and feature more than 230ft of scenery.
The expanded layout will feature Making Tracks 1, 2 and 3 together with new sections modelling Blisworth and Watford to Bushey in ‘OO’ gauge with overhead catenary.
Pete Waterman said: “We are really pulling the stops out with this to make it the biggest portable model railway you have ever seen. The new sections will balance the distance between Milton Keynes and Tring Cutting as well as adding brand new scenes which will debut at Model World LIVE in April.”
