Wickham Trolley in 'O' next for Ellis Clark Trains
Ellis Clark Trains has unveiled plans to produce the Wickham Type 27 Inspection trolley and trailer cars for its next ready-to-run 'O' gauge project.
Built at Wickham of Ware from the late 1940s, these diminutive and versatile vehicles proved popular with customers overseas as well as here in the UK, with British Railways (BR), the Ministry of Supply and the Royal Engineers amongst the company's high-profile customers. Examples survived in regular use into the 1990s, while many have been preserved.
Currently at the CAD drawing stage, Ellis Clark Trains' new 'O' gauge Type 27 Wickham trolley and trailer will be DCC ready and feature a diecast chassis, finescale wheels, directional lights and interior detailing. Four Wickham trolley and trailer models are planned as B14W in BR maroon (Cat No. E71-2-1_, DS3321 in BR (SR) green (E71-2-2), TR18 in BR yellow (E71-2-3) and MPV0007 in engineers' yellow (E71-2-4). Four additional unnumbered Wickham trailers will also be produced in BR maroon (E73-2-1), BR (SR) green (E73-2-2), BR yellow (E73-2-3) and engineers' yellow (E73-2-4).
Prices are set at £159.99 each for the Wickham Type 27 trolley and trailers, while the individual trailers are priced at £34.95 each. Delivery is anticipated for early 2022.
