PILOT'S 'PEW'

COMMON ORDNANCE

One of the most frequently carried ordnance on British fighter-bomber types during World War Two was the 250lb MC (medium capacity) weapon, being carried by Spitfires, Hurricanes, Mosquitos, Blenheims and Beaufighters.

AERIAL 'FISH'

Brengun’s Mk.XIII munition is ideal for any US Navy World War Two torpedo bomber and this highly detailed offering provides parts for early and late configurations (with nose ring and breakaway aerodynamic covers for the latter).

METALLIC TONES

The second set in LifeColor’s Perfect Metal range is dedicated to those hues found on aircraft, whether that’s a natural metal finish or heat-stained sections around exhausts.

PLAIN RIMS

Modellers with Fujimi or Hasegawa’s 1/72 Douglas A-4 Skyhawks – plus the re-boxings by Hobby 2000 and Revell, respectively – can add the late-style wheels fitted from A-4Cs onwards courtesy of CMK’s resin parts.

ADDITIONAL ORDNANCE

Suitable for a range of World War Two-era Japanese aircraft, Brengun’s 1/48 scale 250kg bomb is ideal for adding ordnance where none has been included in a kit as it supplies both the weapon and the hardpoint used to secure it to the airframe.

AMROURED WHEELS

THE RAF’S FLASHING BLADE

With the imminent arrival of Airfix’s newly tooled 1/48 Canadair Sabre, here’s a sneak peak at the parts of what promises to be one of this year’s most popular releases.

LINER UPGRADE

If there's a common thread with most ship kits, it’s that no matter what the manufacturer packs into the box, there’s invariably room for improvement, even in Trumpeter’s imposing 1/200 RMS Titanic (see News, AMW114 May 2020).

TITANIC TREAT

No sooner had Trumpeter’s Titanic been released than news arrived of a multimedia aftermarket detailing/ upgrade set from renowned South Korean accessory company KA Models, via its MK1 Designs range.

OFTEN THE HUNTED

The Russian R-17/SS-1C Scud-B is arguably one of the best-known ballistic missiles, yet there are just two 1/72 styrene kits of the type, with Revell’s recent release being a re-boxing of the Toxso offering.

ENGINEERING DEMOLITION

While the Centurion tank has regularly been reproduced in kit form, the Royal Engineers variant has been less common, so Amusing Hobby’s Mk.5 AVRE will be welcomed by many.

A TRAINER’S TRAINER

Buses and kits arguably have much in common: there’s nothing for ages, then everything arrives at the same time.

OPEN-TOPPED DEMAG

Arguably, Demag’s Sd.Kfz.10 was the most common half-track used by German forces during World War Two, and its popularity continues in kit form – Special Armour is the latest firm to offer this vehicle in 1/72 scale, with a re-box of the MK 72 product.
