ON THE SHELF
Keep up to date with the latest and most comprehensive round up of new model, accessory, decal and book releases from Airfix Model World. Whether you are looking for aircraft, military, figures, auto or maritime kits or that specific set of decals you will find it here. Plus you can use our search feature to look for specific suppliers, scales or types of model.
KEEP ON TRUCKIN'
This is ICM’s fourth Liberty truck release, and the second to include figures – as usual, this package works out cheaper than the individual kits.
MOUNTIE AND HUSKIE
ICM has continued its large-scale law enforcement series with this two-piece set of a female Royal Canadian Mounted Police constable and dog.
AIRCRAFT REPAIRS
Accompanied by a glossy bookazine, Kagero’s RAF aircraft mechanic would be ideal for any 1/24 Spitfire, Hurricane, Mosquito or Typhoon diorama.
WHEELED SCOUT
Tamiya’s lovely M8 Greyhound returns after a gap of more than 20 years, along with a bevy of extras for its ‘Combat Patrol Set’.
OFFICIALDOM ON WHEELS
Revell’s WOT 6 is a direct re-box of ICM’s splendid kit, with the sole change being a new decal sheet.
CLASH OF THE TITANS
ICM has combined its Pz.Kpfw. VI Ausf.B (35363) and T-34/85 (35367) in a Battle of Berlin combo that’s less than 75% of the combined cost of the separate kits.
QUICK-FIRE ARTILLERY
French artillery seems to attract less attention than other nation’s subjects, so this Mle 1897 from IBG will be popular among military kit aficionados.
MANNED FLAK COMBO
This neat little set from Dragon combines the firm’s 2cm FlaK 38 (6288) with its superb crew figures (6368) to provide arguably the best diorama package currently available for this type of anti-aircraft gun.
LITTLE LEATHERNECKS
Airfix’s Vintage Classics are great pieces of nostalgia, none moreso than its US Marines set, which provides 44 figures and a single raft.
OFFICE APOCALYPSE
In the event of a zombie infestation there will… always be one that wears a tie, and this pigeon-toed member of the undead has a suitably ravaged head and neck, while still keeping the inevitable office name badge clipped to his jacket.
HIGH-FLIER
This excellent four-piece resin figure depicts a US pilot fitted with a pressure suit, making it suitable for high-altitude capable platforms such as the SR-71/A-12/YF-12 Blackbird and U-2.
OUT FOR A SPIN
Here’s a great addition for ICM’s Model T 1913 Speedster (24015), with a driver and passenger dressed up for a drive in the countryside; it would also be ideal for its Roadster (24001).
NUCLEAR CLEAN-UP
This is the second boxed set from ICM inspired by the recent TV series Chernobyl, and marries the firm’s superb AC-40-137A (1986) Soviet Fire truck (35519), four newly tooled figures (available separately as 35623) and a three-sided display backdrop.
STEALTHY TWO-WHEELER
Having delighted modellers with the baseline Ninja H2, Tamiya has re-worked the parts by replacing three styrene runners with revised items to depict the higher-spec H2 Carbon version.
SPORTY SOFT-TOP
Although the box-top labels this kit as a 944S Cabriolet, the parts appear identical to the original 944 Cabriolet release (655), so aspects of the rear styling will need scratch-building for an accurate S-model soft-top.
VOITURE TRICOLOR
Revell’s 2011 Citroën 2CV has been repackaged with new decals to allow this smart Cocorico (‘cock-a-doodledoo’) edition to be built.
BY AIR AND BY SEA
Revell has continued its partnership and support of the Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Rettung Schiffbrüchiger (DGzRS – German Maritime Search and Rescue Service) with the release of this large two-kit ship and helicopter gift set.
MARITIME GIANT
United States-based Imperial Hobby Productions is probably better known for its railway associated products, but its first styrene ship kit, HMS Colossus, is very impressive.
FLOATING FLAK
Ship-kit specialist Starling Models’ range of resin and photo-etched brass waterline subjects continues with HMS Alynbank, a converted anti-aircraft cruiser from World War Two.
MERLIN-POWERED SUPERMARINES
This tribute to 1/32 Spitfires from Fündekals features 12 schemes for Merlin-engined Mk.I, Vb, IXc and XVIe airframes, with a mix of aircraft flown by British, American, Australian and New Zealand pilots, including several notable aces.
IMPORTED FULCRUMS
The Polish Air Force has operated Mikoyan MiG-29s (NATO reporting name Fulcrum) since 1989.
CROATIAN ARMOUR
Modellers wanting unusual schemes for their MiniArt T-55s will find plenty of choice from Star’s Croatian Army selection.
AXIS GROUND-POUNDERS
Hungarian company SBS Model has released a collection of markings for 1/72 Focke-Wulf Fw 190F-8 ground-attack machines as operated by its homeland air force during World War Two.
'LAWN DART' LIVERIES
Several of the schemes depicted in Xtradecal’s 1/48 Lockheed F-104 Starfighter Collection Part Two are ‘upscaled’ versions of those included in its 1/72 version (see April 2020, p.89), but this also means the superb quality is retained.
WEATHER-FORECASTING FORTRESSES
Kits-World has produced a pair of markings sheets allowing modellers to depict Boeing B-17F/G Flying Fortresses operated by the RAF as Fortress Mk.II/IIIs for varied roles including Coastal Command, Meteorological Reconnaissance (MET) and Radio Countermeasures (RCM).
FRESH-FACED JUMBO
Intended for 1/144 747-100/200 kits by Revell or Welsh Model, this three-sheet package from airliner specialist 26 Decals allows modellers to depict BOAC-liveried jumbo-jets, including the first airframe delivered to the airline: G-ANWA.
DIVISIONS, DECISIONS
A broad array of divisional markings was applied to the German Wehrmacht’s Panzer units during World War Two, but these 1/35 decals from FC Modeltips (a sub-brand of FC Model Trend) contains a wide selection and a guide to when the symbols were used.
8x8 'FEET'
Ideal for either of Aoshima’s Type 16 Manouver Combat Vehicle releases, Hauler’s resin upgrade provides eight units, organised into four pairs of wheels, labelled A-D.
MOLTEN METALS
Compared to just a few years ago, it is surprising at just how many specialised metallic tones are now available as acrylic paints.
'BRICK' BOOTS
Modellers seeking extra refinement for Airfix’s recent 1/72 Blackburn Buccaneer S.2C will find these resin wheels from Eduard a suitable substitution for the kit representations.
